In a disheartening turn of events, the New York Yankees were swept by the Mets in the Subway Series for the first time since 2013, highlighting their recent struggles. Once considered strong contenders for the World Series, the Yankees’ early-season momentum has dwindled significantly.
Mike Francesa unleashes on Yankees in 26-minute rant, calls for accountability and change
Legendary radio host Mike Francesa did not hold back in expressing his frustration with the Yankees during a 26-minute tirade on “The Mike Francesa Podcast.” His impassioned critique, as transcribed by the New York Post, underscored the team’s glaring deficiencies.
“The Mets from top to bottom absolutely just destroyed the Yankees tonight. Embarrassed the Yankees tonight,” Francesa fumed. “They can’t get a big hit. They can’t make a big play in the field. … The Mets just mortified them in these four games.”
Particular ire was directed at star pitcher Gerrit Cole, who surrendered three home runs in the Yankees’ 12-3 loss on Wednesday night. Despite Cole’s struggles, Francesa was adamant that manager Aaron Boone should retain his position but stressed the need for accountability within the organization.
“From ownership through the general manager through the manager through every player on that team, these are not what we could call Yankees,” Francesa declared. “They don’t act like Yankees, they don’t win like Yankees. They don’t compete like Yankees.”
Francesa’s rant culminated in a call for sweeping changes and a return to the storied franchise’s competitive ethos.
“If they don’t sit down and make people accountable in their jobs, both in the front office, in management, in ownership and on the field, postseason is going to crash and burn just like it has, and there is a reason why the Yankees haven’t been near the World Series in a long, long, long, long time.”
The Yankees’ recent performance has been nothing short of abysmal, with the team losing 22 of their last 32 games. Francesa’s blistering commentary echoes the sentiments of a frustrated fan base that yearns for a return to the glory days of Yankees baseball.

Who can argue with his opinion? I know I can’t. it’s a lost franchise and won’t change until Hal sells. they are just cashing in on the Yankee Brand. They have no need to “win”. They just tease the fan base with a playoff hopes scam. as long as fans keep buy Yankee products of any venue!
