The Cardinals-Yankees series at Busch Stadium last weekend was a great success for the Cardinals team — in the box office, on the field and also television ratings.

Cardinals won all 3 games against the Yankees, the first time that has happened in at least 3 games. All 3 games were sold out, with 48,581 fans filling the stadium on Saturday, setting a new milestone for a sporting event at Busch Stadium, which is in its 17th season.

And, according to TV ratings figures released this week, the performance was also outstanding. It’s so good that it’s the most-watched Cardinals regular-season series on television in St. Louis since the first 3 games of the 2017 season.

Last weekend’s games, two local Bally Sports Midwest productions and one Fox regional telecast airing locally on KTVI (Channel 2), averaged viewers are just under 209,700. The attendance for last Friday’s game was 170,000, Saturday was 234,000, and Sunday was 225,000. All of these were season highs for that week.

Those Saturday-Sunday games are the second and third most-watched Cards telecasts in the area this season. No. 1 is the average of 246,000 viewers who tuned in to BSM on opening day, which usually draws a large crowd.

Card viewership on Bally Sports Midwest is up 31% year over year.
