In a recent podcast, Alex Rodriguez, the former MLB star, expressed his astonishment and disbelief upon hearing disparaging remarks from his former high school and New York Yankees teammate, Doug Mientkiewicz.

In a recent episode of the “Foul Territory” podcast, Doug Mientkiewicz, who joined as a guest, engaged in a conversation with former Minnesota Twins teammate A.J. Pierzynski. During the discussion, Pierzynski inquired about whether Alex Rodriguez acknowledges Mientkiewicz when they encounter each other in public situations.

According to Mientkiewicz, Alex Rodriguez acknowledges him in specific situations, but generally, Rodriguez has distanced himself from his high school teammates. Mientkiewicz went on to make a remark about A-Rod’s future, stating that he believes the player would end up leading a solitary life, using the phrase “going to die a lonely man.”

Mientkiewicz commented on Alex Rodriguez’s behavior, expressing his perception that A-Rod’s actions are motivated by a desire to secure a place in heaven. Mientkiewicz contrasted his own relationship with his high school team, stating that he maintains friendships with them and engages in regular texting and banter within a group thread. He emphasized the importance of not forgetting one’s high school friends, regardless of the level of success or achievements attained throughout one’s career.

Despite Mientkiewicz’s remarks, Alex Rodriguez appeared unperturbed by them. However, the former 14-time All-Star expressed his surprise and shock at the comments, describing them as unusual since he had always regarded Mientkiewicz as a friend.

During a recent interview with Rosanna Scotto of Fox 5 NY, Alex Rodriguez expanded on his thoughts and feelings regarding Mientkiewicz’s comments.

Alex Rodriguez expressed his perspective on the matter during the interview with Rosanna Scotto, emphasizing that he would never publicly speak negatively about any of his teammates, particularly someone he has known since high school. Reflecting on their shared history, Alex Rodriguez acknowledged that as they approach their 50s, this is a time when they should cherish the memories and relationships they have formed over the years. He acknowledged the existence of differing opinions and stated that he prefers to take such comments with a grain of salt, wishing everyone well and moving forward.
