Yesterday, the Pinstripes Nation reported a significant development for Yankees fans, revealing their collective call for CC Sabathia and Ichiro Suzuki to be included in the 2025 Hall of Fame induction. This passionate appeal has yielded positive results, as per the New York Post’s confirmation that the celebrated Yankees duo will indeed be honored in the upcoming ceremony.
What’s next?
CC Sabathia, the former Yankees left-hander, headlines a group of players set to join the next Baseball Hall of Fame ballot later this year. Alongside the near-certain inductee Ichiro Suzuki, as well as Felix Hernandez and Dustin Pedroia, Sabathia is positioned as a strong candidate for enshrinement. His illustrious 19-year career includes six All-Star selections, a Cy Young Award in 2007, and impressive stats such as 3,093 strikeouts, 251 wins, and a 3.74 ERA. Having spent 11 seasons in the Bronx, eight in Cleveland, and a half-season in Milwaukee, Sabathia recently shared his contemplation on Hall of Fame induction following a visit with his son a few years ago.
Who were included in 2024?
Meanwhile, the former captain of the Mets, David Wright, secured his place on the ballot for another year after receiving 24 votes (6.2 percent), surpassing the 5 percent threshold. Carlos Beltran, another former Met, experienced a boost in votes during his second year on the ballot, garnering 57.1 percent compared to last year’s 46.5 percent.
On a contrasting note, prominent figures Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez, linked to the steroid era, witnessed a decline in votes. Rodriguez, in his third year on the ballot, dropped from 35.7 percent to 34.8 percent, while Ramirez, in his eighth year of eligibility, decreased from 33.2 percent to 32.5 percent.
