Although the Yankees secured a winning over the Mets in a spring training game just a few days prior to the start of the season. Thus, concerns have arisen about Yankees’ first baseman Anthony Rizzo’s health and whether he will be available for Opening Day. Be that as it may, Rizzo was removed from Friday’s lineup against the Mets due to a tight lat.

Anthony Rizzo recognized that being scratched from the lineup with a tight left lat would, as he put it, ‘ring some alarms,’ but he’s certain that he’ll be just fine.

What happened with Anthony Rizzo?

Anthony Rizzo, a seasoned first baseman, had been performing well in spring training, demonstrating his recovery from concussion issues that plagued him last season. Following the game, Anthony Rizzo addressed reporters at Steinbrenner Field, expressing optimism despite his late scratch from the lineup. He assured them that sitting out, possibly for the remainder of spring training, was purely precautionary.

“I’m not gonna risk it turning into something that could be really bad,” Anthony Rizzo said. “It’s just being smart. I’m fully confident I’ll be in there Opening Day.”

Will Anthony Rizzo start at the beginning of the regular season?

Acknowledging that his absence might raise concerns, Anthony Rizzo emphasized the importance of caution to prevent the situation from worsening. He confidently stated his expectation to be ready for Opening Day, emphasizing the need to prioritize his long-term health over risking aggravating the injury.

“While something like this pops up, I’ve had it where it’s been six-to-eight days,” Rizzo said. “I’ve had it where it’s one-to-two. I’ve had it where I’ve played through it. That’s when it actually really hurts. This is precaution at the fullest, knowing where we’re at in spring training.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Rizzo’s decision to withdraw from the lineup shortly before the game, expressing hope for his quick return. Despite his absence, Rizzo’s impressive performance in spring training indicates his readiness for the upcoming season.

“In light of his reassurances, fantasy managers drafting this weekend should feel confident selecting Anthony Rizzo, as his current condition is viewed as a precautionary measure rather than a significant setback,” Boone stated.
