The book “The Yankee Years” by former New York manager Joe Torre has many things to reveal about Alex Rodriguez. According to Torre, A-Rod’s teammates nicknamed him “A-Fraud” and the manager once slammed the slugger for being too much obsessed with Derek Jeter like a “single white female.”

The much-loved Yankees’ manager told the New York Post that A-Rod asked for a personal assistant in the clubhouse and got the nickname “A-Fraud” from his teammates because he fawned over Jeter like many of the women who like the team captain.

Joe Torre first got an opportunity to become the Yankees’ general manager but rejected it. A few months later, he was appointed their manager. From 1996 to 2007, Joe Torre led the Yankees to 10 division titles, six American League pennants, and four World Series wins. From 1998 to 2000, the Yankees won three straight World Series titles under Torre’s leadership. He had a winning percentage of .605 at the end of the season, and he never missed the playoffs.

The book is written by Joe Torre and Tom Verducci, a celebrated sportswriter. It contains vivid accounts of “personal attacks” by the former Yankees manager, who left New York in 2007 and later managed the Los Angeles Dodgers. He said that Brian Cashman, who was the general manager of the Yankees, misled him when he didn’t speak up for Torre during contract negotiations.

Alex Rodriguez spoke highly of Joe Torre

Though Joe Torre’s relationship with Alex Rodriguez was not at its best since the 2006 season, A-Rod praised Torre in a tweet in 2021. He wrote:

“We’re always told to think big, dream big, find the next big thing. The great Joe Torre taught me that if you want big things to happen, you should start by thinking small. Executing the small things well can be the catalyst for much bigger things to happen.”

Joe Torre is the only person in the major leagues who has both 2,000 hits as a player and 2,000 wins as a manager. He had 2,342 hits as a player and is the only person to have done both. He was the manager of the Yankees from 1996 to 2007, during which time they won six pennants and four World Series.

Alex Rodriguez played in the MLB for 22 years and remains one of the most prolific hitters of the game despite controversies and PED use. Most of his time in Major League Baseball was with the Yankees. A-Rod is now the CEO of A-Rod Corp. and owns a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA.

Alex Rodriguez was in the news for his fight with the team’s management over his recovery and for being accused of getting drugs to help him play better as part of the Biogenesis baseball scandal. In August 2013, MLB suspended Alex Rodriguez for 211 games for his part in the scandal. After a hearing, the suspension was cut down to 162 games, which means he can’t play for the whole 2014 season.

Joe Torre, who is a special assistant to the baseball commissioner, used to be the chief baseball officer for Major League Baseball from 2011 to 2020. He is the fifth-most successful manager in MLB history, with 2,326 wins. He has been a player, a manager, and a sports broadcaster.

A-Rod was always a fraud that how he made his money. By using PED…he can never match him self with Jeter. Jeter is a classy guy a true role model.
