Position players rarely require Tommy John surgery, with the procedure primarily performed on pitchers, accounting for 90% of the 1,814 surgeries since 1976. The last outfielder to undergo Tommy John surgery was Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies. Texas doctor Keith Meister, who performed the surgery on Harper, did the same procedure on Jasson Dominguez.
