Yankees legend Derek Jeter is set to return on Fox Sports next year. According to a report by Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, the baseball icon has a six-year multimillion-dollar contract and the 2023 season was only the first year of it.
There were apprehensions about Derek Jeter’s broadcasting career after he mentioned that he wasn’t sure about it and indicated that they would have to wait and see. He said this on Fox’s postgame show on Wednesday after his former teammate Alex Rodriguez asked him, “Will you make a return?”
Derek Jeter’s debut season was a hit
In his debut broadcasting season, fans saw a more relaxed Derek Jeter than the ultra-focused Yankee known for chasing championships. Though intensely businesslike on the field, he was famously funny and loose with teammates privately. This was on display during his post-game appearance on Fox Sports.
He jokingly “quit” after David Ortiz gifted a Red Sox jersey on day one. He mocked New Jersey native Kevin Burkhardt’s accent. He good-naturedly rejected wearing a cowboy hat, posting a photo in one shortly after.
Derek Jeter made viewers emotional too, through interactions with players like Houston’s Mauricio Dubon, who professed his love of the game stemming from the Yankees icon. Even All-Star Alex Bregman snapped a selfie with his idol as Ortiz and A-Rod watched.
The glimpses of Derek Jeter’s personality make it evident that he belongs around the game, and broadcasting suits him perfectly.

I thought Jeter did a good job and I liked watching MLB because of him. I’m glad he’s going to return.
