Before Sunday’s series finale against the Kansas City Royals, Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided some encouraging injury updates.
Here is the most recent update:
GIANCARLO STANTON, OF/DH
Achilles tendonitis to the left.
Status: 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 24.
8 games were missed (counting Sunday).
Most recent: Stanton, who has been on the IL, is set to resume baseball activities early this week. If there are no setbacks, Stanton could be back in the lineup within 10 days.
ZACK BRITTON, LHP
Tommy John surgery was on September 8, 2021.
Status: On the 60-day injured list since March 13.
103 games were missed.
Most recent: Britton will throw live batting practice for the first time since his surgery this week. He’ll probably do it at least 2 or 3 times before being cleared to start rehab. The Yankees have not specified a timetable for Britton’s return, but it appears that late August is a possibility.
LUIS SEVERINO, RHP
Low-grade right lat strain.
Status: On the 15-day injured list since July 14.
15 games have been missed.
Most recent: Severino’s two-week break from throwing is set to end Monday. In the best-case scenario, he’ll return on September 1.
