Before the Yankees’ doubleheader against the Astros on Thursday, fans were unable to watch the YES Network pregame show. When the game began, cord-cutters were still in the dark.
According to a YES spokesman, a power outage at the master control in Atlanta caused the live coverage to go down. This affected on all of Sinclair’s regional sports networks. Sinclair owns a portion of YES and uses its live stream operations center.
Just minutes before the first pitch of Game 1, the YES Network returned to normal on regular television, but the YES Network’s online stream still had a neon green screen at the top of the first inning. YES was able to provide an alternative stream for its app later on. At 3:25 p.m., YES reported that the network was up and running on all systems and the app.
All viewers could see early in the Yankees pregame show was a black screen before it shifted to neon green.
However, it appeared that some technical glitches remained, as YES did not show commercials between innings. Instead, live footage of players warming up was shown.
The Yankees played their first games following the All-Star break on Thursday. The Yankees (64-28) entered the day with a 4.5-game lead over the Astros.
