A $16.5 million waterfront estate on Marco Island, Florida, originally built for the late New York Yankees pitcher Bob Turley, is now on the market.

Known as the “Turley Mansion,” the Italian-inspired residence was custom-built for the ex-Yankees ace in the 1980s following his retirement. According to the listing agency, Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, the property has become one of Marco Island’s most prestigious addresses.

Cathy Rogers, the listing agent from the firm’s Marco Island office, recently presented the estate to the market, describing it as a “true gem.”

The expansive waterfront estate on Marco Island built for former Yankees All-Star boasts over 13,000 square feet of living space, offering a luxurious living experience. Nestled on nearly three acres with stunning views of Robert’s Bay, Bullet Bob’s residence evokes the grandeur of a Venetian palazzo with intricate details throughout.

The grand room features a 25-foot hand-painted barrel ceiling, adorned with columns, stone flooring, and majestic fireplaces. Additional highlights of this ex-Yankees MVP mansion include imported fountains, a gourmet kitchen with a concealed temperature-controlled wine cellar, a library with built-in bookcases leading to a full bar and lounge area, a formal dining area, a family room, staff quarters, and multiple outdoor terraces.

The residence offers six bedrooms, including a lavishly appointed primary suite. The primary suite features a hand-rubbed Venetian plaster ceiling, dual bathrooms, spacious walk-in closets, and a morning room with access to a private balcony.

The estate’s blend of historical significance, architectural elegance, and prime location on Marco Island presents a unique opportunity that occurs once in a lifetime. Bob Turley’s property extends to 190 feet of waterfront, offering a dock suitable for most yachts. Lush landscaping surrounds the estate, featuring serene koi ponds and a screened-in pool with a spa. Public records from PropertyShark indicate the property was acquired by a limited liability company in 2022 for $10 million. Attempts to reach the seller for comment were not successful.

Right-handed pitcher Bob Turley, nicknamed “Bullet Bob,” began his Major League Baseball career in 1951 with the St. Louis Browns (now the Baltimore Orioles). In 1954, he was traded to the New York Yankees, where he spent the majority of his career until 1962. Turley later played for the Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox, ultimately retiring in 1963 after a 13-year career.

He passed away in 2013 at the age of 82. The ex-Yankees won two rings (1956, 1958) and the World Series MVP and Cy Young Award (1958).
