Aaron Judge hit his home run no. 56 and 57 against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Milwaukee Brewers, which starts a home series against the Yankees on Friday, expect the slugger to slow down against him and not to derail their NL wild-card push.
Judge is going to make history this season and set to surpass Roger Maris as the player with most home runs in the American League. He hasn’t slowed down at all lately. His form troubles all opponents, who see him as a potential player with the ability to swing the game away from them.
The Brewers’ pitcher Corbin Burnes too considers Judge as the player who can spoil their quest in the National League. His team struggles to win a wild card spot and currently sits in second place behind the San Diego Padres. Milwaukee is only two games away from the top slot.
However, Corbin Burnes thinks that their playoff push remains in a tight spot considering a tough series against the Yankees. As the series is coming up, Burnes had a simple request for New York’s offense leader Judge.
“Hopefully he has a nice, cold series against us so we can go out and win some baseball games,” according to Corbin Burnes.
Burnes is unlikely to face Judge. But his teammates have to deal with an in-form Judge, who is hitting home runs at a consistent space and motivated by a chase for the AL homer record.
The Milwaukee pitching staff will face him frequently over the next three days. Whether they can limit Judge’s offense will determine whether they can catch up to the Padres in the wild card race.
The Brewers have a tough task ahead of them, but their pitching staff is strong and could give Judge trouble in this series. Corbin Burnes certainly hopes so, because if not, Milwaukee’s chances of making the playoffs could take a big hit if the Yankees win this series.
Will Aaron Judge hit more home runs at American Family Field? Or, will he slow down as Corbin Burnes expect of him?
