A month after suffering an injury, Clarke Schmidt is making significant progress and is set to begin playing catch on Monday, according to Aaron Boone in a recent interview with reporters.
Despite this encouraging development, Clarke Schmidt still has a considerable road ahead before he can return to pitching. He has, however, taken the crucial first step in his rehabilitation program.
Clarke Schmidt was placed on the 60-day injured list on June 18 with a lat strain. In his 11 starts this season, he recorded a 2.52 ERA, striking out 67 batters over 60.2 innings, and posting a 5–3 record. His early-season success contributed to an MLB-record streak by Yankees starters.
Yankees face challenges amid setbacks
The Yankees are currently struggling due to a series of recent losses. Just two months ago, the Bombers boasted the best ERA in the American League. However, in the months since, the team has endured several setbacks specially after the Subway Series.
The Yankees are now looking to turn things around and return to their winning ways. They will face the Blue Jays in the second game of their series, set to begin at 7:07 PM EST this Friday.

Another REAL MLB PITCHER on his way back. Oh, he might’ve hit the 60 day on June 18, but the days start counting from the day he first went on the IL, May 30.
