Ashley Rodon, the wife of New York Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon, pushed back against a recent report from Jomboy’s “Talkin Yanks” podcast on Monday. The report cited unnamed sources within the Yankees organization, who allegedly claimed that Carlos Rodon would not pitch in a game this season.
In response to a tweet referencing the podcast report, Ashley Rodon simply replied “bulls—t.” Her husband has been sidelined with a forearm strain since April, and his progress toward throwing again has been hampered by a chronic back injury.
Despite the setbacks, Carlos Rodon took a small step forward in his rehabilitation last Friday, completing some agility drills at the Yankees’ player development complex in Tampa. The lefty pitcher signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Yankees in the offseason, making his recovery a high priority for the organization.
Yankees expect Carlos Rodon to return
On Friday, the starter disclosed that his back problem was a “chronic” issue and that he planned to receive a cortisone epidural next week in the hopes of expediting his recovery. When questioned about the possibility of a comeback in July, Carlos Rodon signing left it to the team’s training staff.
The Yankees are hoping it can cure the prized free agent of the back issues that have plagued him since April.
“It really sucks,” Carlos Rodon said Friday. “I want to be pitching for the New York Yankees. I want to be pitching in this series and with the boys. I want to be competing. It’s hard to sit here and not be doing it and talking to [reporters].”
Carlos Rodon had a 14-8 record and a 2.88 ERA with the Yankees last year, but he has yet to make an appearance this season.
Ashley and Carlos Rodon have been married since 2018. They have a girl named Willow, who was born in 2019, and a boy named Bo, who was born in 2021.
At the start of April, they welcomed their second son, Silo.
