The New York Yankees have announced their ALDS roaster on the eve of their first game of the series against the Guardians.
The 26-man ALDS roster of the Yankees has 14 position players and 12 pitchers. This includes:
- 4 starting pitchers
Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes, Luis Severino, and Jamison Taillon.
Taillon is named as a starter to cover in case the series goes into the fourth game. In the event of the fifth one, Domingo German may take over.
- 8 relievers
Miguel Castro, Domingo German, Clay Holmes, Jonathan Loaisiga, Lucas Luetge, Wandy Peralta, Clarke Schmidt, and Lou Trivino.
Schmidt may have been included after left-handed Aroldis Chapman is left out.
- 5 infielders
Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Marwin Gonzalez, Anthony Rizzo, and Gleyber Torres.
- 5 outfielders
Harrison Bader, Oswaldo Cabrera, Aaron Hicks, Aaron Judge, and Tim Locastro.
- 2 catchers
Kyle Higashioka and Jose Trevino.
- 2 designated hitters
Giancarlo Stanton and Matt Carpenter.
Who is not included
- Reliever Scott Effross is not part of the Yankees’ ALDS roster. However, he may need Tommy John surgery and is left out for that reason. This allowed Miguel Castro to find a place on the ALDS roster.
- LeMahieu is still not fit and he is not included in the Yankees’ ALDS roster. Pinch-running maestro Tim Locastro got a place following the vacancy.
The first ALDS Yankees vs. Guardians game begins at 7.37 pm, Tuesday, at Yankee Stadium.
