Manager Aaron Boone expects Josh Donaldson to make a comeback in 2023 and wants him to be part of his lineup. However, fans are up in the arm against him as soon as he gave hints about his potential choice.

Josh Donaldson didn’t have the season he had hoped for. During his 2022 season with the New York Yankees, he had the worst record of his career. His strikeout rate was 27.1% and his slugging percentage was .347. These stood the lowest in his career since he started playing in the Major League in 2010.

Even though he had a poor season, manager Boone is confident of Donaldson’s strong comeback next year. The Yankees are not thinking about any trade involving the third baseman. Boone thinks that the slugger had a bad year in 2022.

Speaking on his first The Michael Kay Show after the playoff exit, the manager told about Josh Donaldson starting third base next season.

“As we sit here right now, absolutely. He’s been an offensie machine for the best part of his career. I think it was one of those years where he was searching for that consistency.”

His words soon enraged the Yankees fans, who were not too happy with Boone or Donaldson. They had hoped that the team would change a lot during the offseason. But it looks like the Yankees are going to keep Josh Donaldson in the hot corner.

This year, Yankees fans didn’t like the three-time All-Star. He only hit .077 against the Houston Astros in the playoffs, making him an easy person for fans to blame. During that series against Houston, he got a lot of boos. They took to social media to push back.

“I will be done if they roll the same team out minus Judge,” one fan explained.

“This team is such a joke,” said another

Some fans express anger questioning why the team was unable to find Josh Donaldson’s flaws while the fans pointed out them. They want their organization to change in a big way, but it doesn’t look like that will happen this off-season.

Aaron Boone’s comments mean that Josh Donaldson doesn’t have to spend the offseason worrying about where he will play in 2023. This will give him a chance to take it easy and figure out what he did wrong at the plate this season. He can work on his technique and get better for next year.
