Aaron Judge y su esposa celebran su cuadrangular número 54 en el US Open

Tras conseguir su 54º jonrón de la temporada 2022, Aaron Judge y su esposa Samantha Bracksieck celebraron el logro en el US Open. El bateador consiguió su último jonrón el lunes contra los Twins en el Yankee Stadium . Su actuación también fue útil para los Yankees, que ganaron el partido por 5-2.

El bateador remató su Día del Trabajo con una visita al estadio Arthur Ashe de Queens, donde la pareja presenció el partido del US Open entre la bielorrusa Aryna Sabalenka y la estadounidense Danielle Collins. La eliminatoria de 4ª ronda terminó con la victoria de Sabalenka sobre Collins.

La pareja empezó a salir cuando ambos estudiaban en el mismo instituto de California, y volvieron a encontrarse cuando ambos estudiaban en Fresno State. En diciembre del año pasado, Judge se casó con Bracksieck, que entonces tenía 29 años.

Judge está a punto de entrar en el exclusivo club de jugadores que han anotado 60 jonrones en una sola temporada. Mientras que los aficionados esperan que al menos supere el récord de 61 jonrones establecido por Roger Maris hace 61 años, los analistas de la MLB ven en él un potencial para rozar la marca de 65 jonrones.

El lunes, el californiano sumó su tercer jonrón consecutivo. Judge también lidera en caminatas, RBI, bases totales, porcentaje de slugging, OPS+, OPS y el máximo número de carreras esta temporada. También es el jugador mejor clasificado en FanGraphs y WARP.

Mientras Judge lleva 54 cuadrangulares hasta el 5 de septiembre, Kyle Schwarber, de Filadelfia, le sigue de lejos con 36.

Aaron Judge comenzó la temporada con muchas preguntas sobre su negativa a firmar un acuerdo de 230 dólares con los Yankees que podría haberlo comprometido con El Bronx por siete años. Según su récord actual, el bateador puede alcanzar los 65 jonrones, superando los 60 de Babe Ruth, los 61 de Maris y los 64 de Sammy Sosa.

Barry Bonds, de los Giants, es el líder histórico de jonrones en una sola temporada, con 73 en 2001.
