Aaron Judge’s 300th home run came in the bottom of the eighth inning at Guaranteed Rate Field, with the Yankees leading 6-2. The three-run shot into the left-field stands not only expanded the Yankees’ lead but also underscored Judge’s extraordinary power. With 43 home runs already this season, as of this publication, Judge continues to prove himself as one of the game’s premier power hitters.

Reaching 300 home runs in just 955 games, Aaron Judge shattered Ralph Kiner’s previous record of 1,087 games, demonstrating his remarkable consistency and dominance. At 32 years old, Judge is the 162nd player in MLB history to join the 300-homer club, averaging an impressive 51 home runs per 162 games over his career.

MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reports that Aaron Judge has set a new standard for power hitters, reaching 300 home runs in just 3,431 at-bats—the fewest in history. This achievement puts him ahead of baseball icons like Babe Ruth (3,831), Mark McGwire (3,837), and Ralph Kiner (3,883).

Aaron Judge’s meteoric rise began in 2017 with his 52-homer rookie season, which set the tone for his power-hitting legacy. Despite a late start compared to many of the all-time greats, Judge has made an extraordinary impact. His career home run rate has only accelerated with time, highlighted by his record-setting 62-homer season in 2022, which broke the American League record.

Projections suggest that Judge could finish his career with anywhere between 556 to 719 home runs, depending on his health and longevity. Using Bill James’ Favorite Toy method, which projects remaining seasons based on age and current performance, Judge could add another 243 home runs to his total, reaching 556 by the end of his career.

However, considering his improved hitting skills and reduced strikeout rates, an age-based projection suggests he could hit as many as 419 more homers, potentially bringing his career total to an astonishing 719. This would place him among the greatest home run hitters of all time, surpassing legends like Mickey Mantle (536 homers) and potentially even challenging Babe Ruth’s Yankees total of 659.

Since his debut in 2016, Judge has combined prodigious power, a keen batting eye, and stellar defense, making him a fan favorite and a leader in the Yankees’ clubhouse. His journey to 300 home runs has been marked by countless memorable moments and clutch performances, solidifying his status as one of the game’s elite sluggers.

As the season progresses, Judge’s pursuit of even greater milestones continues to captivate the baseball world. Every game offers the potential for more history-making moments from the Yankees’ beloved number 99.
