The Orioles are currently behind 0-2 in the ALDS against the Texas Rangers and Aaron Hicks is looking back at his Yankees years to motivate them in their fight to bounce back. The Yankees came out of a similar scenario during the 2017 ALDS when Aaron Hicks was in the Bronx.

In that series, Aaron Hicks made 20 plate appearances, accumulating six hits, one home run, and four RBI, contributing significantly to the Yankees’ historic comeback from an 0-2 deficit in the ALDS. He wants his current team to follow that and save their playoffs.

Aaron Hicks tries to draw inspiration from 2017 Yankees

During a recent discussion, Aaron Hicks reminisced about the critical factors that allowed the Yankees to overcome their deficit in 2017. He still remembers how the Yankees faced a 0-2 deficit against Cleveland in a best-of-five series before they made a remarkable comeback, defeating Cleveland in five games and securing their first ALCS appearance since 2012. Since then, no other team has managed to achieve this feat.

Today, Aaron Hicks, who is no longer with the Yankees, encounters a comparable situation with the Baltimore Orioles. The player, as reported by Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Banner, explained that they had a clear understanding of the type of team they were. He noted that the Twins recognized their potential as a formidable team capable of scoring through various means and stressed the importance of having belief in each other, highlighting it as a crucial aspect of their approach.

Hicks desperate to help the Twins

Aaron Hicks expressed the team’s awareness of the importance of not losing any more games. He stressed the need to approach each game individually, with a focus on doing everything possible to secure a win. The ex-Yankee emphasized the significance of paying attention to the details, acknowledging that small actions contribute to winning baseball games. He further highlighted the importance of advancing runners and scoring runs in various situations, indicating that the team has a good understanding of how to accomplish this.

In Game 1, Aaron Hicks missed a crucial hit-and-run signal in the ninth inning, a game the Orioles ultimately lost 3-2. This misstep led to Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson being caught stealing second base, and subsequently, he was struck out.

During Game 2, with the Orioles trailing 11-5 in the ninth inning, Aaron Hicks, who had already contributed a two-run single earlier in the game, managed to hit a three-run home run. This brought the Rangers’ lead down to 11-8. But the Twins lost out after the opposite team retired their two batters.

Game 3 is set for Tuesday at 8:03 EST, as the Orioles aim to turn the series around.
