Prior to the Yankees’ second consecutive triumph over the Mariners, New York Yankees coach Aaron Boone addressed two new updates to the fans regarding Carlos Rodon and DJ LeMahieu.
Rodon is set to have his second rehab game with the Patriots and Aaron Boone highlighted that LeMahieu was absent from the lineup for the second night in a row on Wednesday.
Furthermore, both situations received contrasting reactions. One was met with relief, whilst the other left fans in disbelief.
Aaron Boone wants Rodon to throw at higher velocity
Due to his outstanding debut at Somerset this past Tuesday, Carlos Rodon’s comeback following forearm and back injuries has sparked excitement among fans. During that game, he allowed only one run on one hit, with one walk and five strikeouts, all accomplished over three innings of work and 42 pitches.
A day later, the Yankees’ manager took the opportunity to praise Rodon for his return to good form. However, Aaron Boone did mention, “It’s still not a significant increase in velocity.”
“Based on what I saw, he averaged around 92.5, whereas last year, he was probably around 94.5. He looked fluid and at ease to me. He appeared comfortable on the mound.”
According to the Daily News, the Yankees have discussed the possibility of Rodon needing only three rehab games before his return, although this is not set in stone. Aaron Boone has abstained from establishing a specific date for his debut, as the Yankees prefer to take it game by game and focus on Sunday first.
Will DJ LeMahieu be back?
It’s noticeable that DJ LeMahieu has yet to play for the Yankees or be involved in the games against the Mariners. The infielder has been struggling at the plate, hitting .232/.291/.388 with seven home runs, 23 RBIs, and an 87 wRC+ over 61 matches.
To clarify this point, Aaron Boone said”he has never done anything but hit.”
The team has publicly confirmed that LeMahieu is healthy and there was no baggage associated with 2022 toe injury. The manager pointed out that he was doing an excellent job before getting injured, hitting well. Aaron Boone wanted him to return to form and reclaim his position.
“He didn’t struggle at all last year until he got hut. He was a vintage DJ, bagging .400 on-base. His injury took his numbers down to make it look like an ordinary season. He’s working throughout. I do believe he can get there to where he’s DJ.”
The Yankees are preparing to play against the Seattle Mariners this Friday, June 23rd. On that day, Carlos Rodon will play a Minor League game, while DJ LeMahieu is expected to be removed from Aaron Boone’s lineup again. So, do you agree with the coach’s decision?

This is just not a good team. Too many injury prone players not enough players that put the ball in play. Poorly constructed team and poorly managed team.
Time to move on from the hurt and the old on this team. Bring up the kids and fire Boone!
fire Badboone and Cashhound ASAP, clueless, don’t believe it look at the past results. Always using the excuse it about to turn around
DJ isn’t the only one not hitting how about Donaldson Stanton Volpe yes he hit a home run big deal doesn’t mean he will hit again problem is they all want to hit home runs no gets up at bat just to hit the ball and get on base they’re all trying to hit the fence so don’t put the blame one one personal
This is a team that is poorly constructed, badly managed.the holes on this team are huge. Too many injuries, too many past their prime veterans.one thing is pretty clear, brian cashman has problems trading for starting pitchers. A boat load of his deals failed miserably. Just go back in time and look at his track record! One has to wonder if the brain trust will survive beyond this season.
Fire Boone, too many excuses for underperforming millionaires. Don’t trade Peraza! Bring him up now. Get rid of Stanton, and Donaldson. You dont have to trade the young ones off. It’s become a very bad organization! Can’t they see that?????
George Steinbrenner probably rolling over in his grave. Every year the Yankees get hit with injuries to key players they give them these big contracts and they underperform. The old Yankees were pride upon great pitching like Andy pettite, Mariano Rivera and great hitting sad that Aaron Judge is the only Yankee living up to his potential.
