The New York Yankees have some good news.
The organization has a wealth of talent. On Monday, Triple-A pitcher Clarke Schmidt was honored as the International League Pitcher of the Week. Schmidt was recognized for his outstanding performance.
The following is taken from a press release issued by the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders:
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Schmidt was named the International League Pitcher-of-the-Week for August 8–14. On August 11, the right-handed pitcher faced Worcester and pitched six innings in which he allowed no runs and struck out 11 batters. On Thursday, Schmidt competed against the WooSox for the second time in 2022. His 11 swinging strikeouts surpassed his career high by two.
The New York Yankees selected Schmidt in the first round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. Since 2020, he’s been switching between the Yankees and the RailRiders. This season, he appeared for the Yankees in 16 games and pitched a total of 30 innings, compiling a 2.40 earned run average and two saves. The most recent promotion for him to Triple-A came on August 1st.
