The New York Yankees are heading to their first World Series since 2009, and they’ll be facing off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a blockbuster matchup that begins on Friday, October 25. This long-awaited series will take place in the two largest markets in the country, with some of the biggest stars in baseball on both sides, including Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Juan Soto for the Yankees.
After defeating the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the ALCS, the Yankees will now challenge the Dodgers, who punched their ticket to the World Series by beating the New York Mets in six games during the NLCS. It’s the 12th time these two iconic franchises will meet in the Fall Classic.

Ticket prices soar for Yankees-Dodgers matchup
The combination of these two legendary franchises has sent ticket prices skyrocketing. According to data from resale site TickPick, prices for the Yankees-Dodgers World Series are the second most expensive on record, with the average purchase price sitting at $1,515. That’s nearly double the cost of last year’s World Series between the Rangers and Diamondbacks, which averaged $769.
The only more expensive series on record was the 2016 World Series between the Cubs and Cleveland, which had an average ticket price of $1,617.
If you’re planning to attend Game 1 in Los Angeles, the “get-in” price for the cheapest ticket available as of Monday was $951. But the prices rise dramatically for Yankee Stadium. For Game 3 in the Bronx, standing room only tickets were going for $1,329, and for those who want a seat, prices started at $1,399.
For fans hoping to be up close to the action, tickets behind home plate in the Legends Suite — with unlimited food — were priced at an eye-popping $19,440 per seat for Game 3.
Yankees-Dodgers rivalry
This is the 12th time the Yankees and Dodgers will face off in the World Series, with New York having the edge in titles. The Yankees won six out of the seven matchups when the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn. However, since the Dodgers’ move to Los Angeles, the teams have split their four World Series meetings.
The Yankees, led by a powerhouse lineup featuring Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton, will face a Dodgers team headlined by Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. This matchup not only features some of the highest payrolls in baseball but also some of the game’s most recognizable stars.
