Emerging Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll recently appeared on the popular baseball podcast “Foul Territory.” On the show, Carroll expressed his enduring admiration for Derek Jeter, the legendary former New York Yankees captain.
Carroll enjoyed a tremendous rookie season in 2023, helping to fuel Arizona’s surprising run to the World Series. His speed and energy were vital ingredients to the Diamondbacks’ reliance on athleticism over power hitting. In March, this Derek Jeter fan signed a lucrative eight-year, $111 million contract extension on the heels of his record-setting performance.
The 23-year-old became the first rookie ever with at least 25 home runs and 50 stolen bases, a feat that earned him National League Rookie of the Year honors. It capped off a meteoric rise for Carroll since being drafted by Arizona in 2019.
Carroll’s Derek Jeter fanboy moment
During his podcast appearance, Carroll revealed he still proudly displays a Derek Jeter bobblehead in his room from childhood. He singled out Jeter as an icon who inspired his development into a spark plug MLB star. Even amid his own accomplishments, Carroll still admires Jeter’s legendary Hall of Fame career and leadership qualities.
“I’ve actually got his bobblehead in my room from when I was growing up.”
The bustling confidence
Following a remarkable MLB season that led to him securing the 2023 NL Rookie of the Year award, Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks is convinced he has untapped potential. In a recent interview, this Derek Jeter fan disclosed a temporary hiatus from stealing bases imposed by coaches due to an injury, expressing the belief that his performance could have been even more impressive without this restriction. Therefore, the 23-year-old standout from the World Series remains confident in his ability to make further contributions and attain improved statistics in the times ahead.
