Although NYC wasn’t in the path of totality, New Yorkers could witness the eclipse starting around 2:51 p.m., with the sun expected to be about 90 percent covered by 3:25 p.m.
As the eclipse reached its peak, darkness descended over the city, casting everything into an eerie twilight. Streetlights flickered on, and the air grew cooler as the moon blocked out more and more of the sun’s light. Despite the hustle and bustle of city life, New Yorkers paused to witness this rare moment of celestial beauty.
