Armed with eclipse glasses and cameras, they eagerly awaited the moment when the moon would pass in front of the sun, casting its shadow over the city.

As the eclipse began, excitement rippled through the crowd. Cheers and exclamations filled the air as the sky darkened and the sun took on an otherworldly appearance. For many fans, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a moment they would cherish and remember for years to come.

This celestial event, watched by millions, traversed the Empire State, with cities like Buffalo and Syracuse experiencing totality. Although NYC wasn’t in the path of totality, New Yorkers could witness the eclipse starting around 2:51 p.m., with the sun expected to be about 90 percent covered by 3:25 p.m.

As the eclipse reached its peak, darkness descended over the city, casting everything into an eerie twilight. Streetlights flickered on, and the air grew cooler as the moon blocked out more and more of the sun’s light. Despite the hustle and bustle of city life, New Yorkers paused to witness this rare moment of celestial beauty.
