Before his All-star game appearance, Gerrit Cole was asked about his season aspirations and prompted to create a bucket list. In response, he expressed his desire to become a World Series Champion with the Yankees in 2023.

The comment received backlash as the Yankees’ chances of making the playoffs appear uncertain. At the mid-season mark, the team holds the fourth position in the standings with 49 wins and 42 losses. The gap between them and the third-place Toronto Blue Jays is a single victory. This is disappointing, considering the Yankees boast the second most expensive roster in the MLB.

Cole’s bucket list revelation garnered a negative response from numerous Yankees fans who perceived it as belittling their team’s aspirations and failing to comprehend the expectations placed on players donning the pinstripes.

These fans had anticipated that the pitcher would demonstrate a thorough understanding of the challenging circumstances faced by the team and prioritize the pursuit of a championship over personal aspirations.

In addition to the negative reaction, some fans even questioned whether Cole was being ironic or making a joke.

They found it hard to believe that a player of his caliber, who signed a record-breaking contract with the Yankees, would need to add pitching in the World Series to his bucket list. It raised doubts about his commitment to the team and understanding the expectations of being a Yankee.

However, it is worth noting that not all fans were critical of Cole’s statement. Some defended him, arguing that it simply reflected his personal goals and aspirations. They believed that Cole’s desire to pitch in the World Series was not meant to diminish the team’s goals but rather to highlight his dreams as a professional baseball player.

Ultimately, Cole’s bucket list revelation sparked a divisive reaction among Yankees fans. While some saw it as a harmless personal ambition, others viewed it as disregarding the team’s historic pursuit of World Series glory. Regardless of the controversy, it serves as a reminder that the Yankees must return to the winning path as soon as possible.

Some Yankees fans are negative Nancys.

How is bad for the team that he does to get a ring with the Yanks? Isn’t that what we all want?

Does anyone honestly believe Cole doesn’t recognize the Yanks position right now?

Come on now… They can still win it all! Cole wanting to is good for the spirit of the team.

Who wouldn’t want their Ace dreaming of a WS Championship? Goofy stuff we cover and lend any credence to in news nowadays.

The naysayers should and need to be ignored. Stop giving negative people a platform to spread their issues with their twisted thinking.

Go Yanks. You can do this!

The Negative Nancy Yankees fans need to STFU. Cole was asked a question and he gave an honest answer. Can you blame him for saying World Series? My goodness. This team put itself in their current plight. Can they get out of it? Who knows?
