It was not the news that Yankees fans were hoping to see on Sunday. The latest report was not a positive one as top outfield star Jasson Dominiguez was reported to be back on the injury list. This is only less than a week since he completed his rehab procedure following a Tommy John surgery.
Be that as it may, the 21-year-old is now back on the sidelines, as he is on the 7-day injured list.
What happened
Jasson Dominguez is now back again in the recovery process, with an undisclosed injury set to keep him out of action. On Saturday, he completed six innings in center field before he was pulled in the bottom of the seventh, making it 1-for-3 with two strikeouts as well as a stolen base.
Yankees dealing with 10 prospects on IL, including Jasson Dominguez
This latest development means the Yankees’ injury woes continue to worsen, with nine other names currently on the sidelines. These players include Chase Hampton (ranked 3rd), Everson Pereira (5th), Henry Lalane (8th), Clayton Beeter (13th), Carlos Lagrange (16th), Anthony Hall (26th), Justin Lange (30th), and Caleb Durbin (unranked). It is rather significant because of these players boast good quality and are in top 50 on the MLB player rankings.
Jasson Dominguez has displayed a lot of potential this season, hitting .356 with six homers and 13 RBIs across four games with Low-A Tampa. He has also recorded 10 with Double-A Somerset, and nine with Triple-A Scranton. At Scranton, he recorded .389 (14-for-36) with two homers.
“You can tell he’s a No. 1 prospect for a reason,” said Rochester Red Wings manager Matt LeCroy to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. “He’s got speed, arm strength, and he’s a switch hitter with a quick bat and a good eye for the strike zone. He has power and all the tools needed to be an impactful player.”
Despite yet another injury setback, Jasson Dominguez remained positive about his progress. “I had to build up to play nine innings, and I’ve been able to play several games consecutively. So far, so good,” he said.
“I’m not surprised by my recovery; it went well and fast.”
Jasson Dominguez also maintained that he was not disappointed to be missing in action for the Yankees, despite his positive form this season. “There’s nothing I can control,” he said. “It is what it is. I just take it day by day, focus on my game, and know that getting at-bats is always beneficial. The more you play, the more you learn,” he added.
For now, Yankees fans will have to make do and wait longer to see Dominguez return to action.

But per Yankees policy, they tell us nothing about the injuries suffered by the minor leagues. Also, you forgot Brendan Beck, a 2020 Round 2 pick who is missing another season in 2024.
