The friendship of Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo is an inspiration for Yankees players and fans. The Yankees captain has always grabbed more limelight thanks to his bigger sports persona. But on Sunday, it was Anthony Rizzo who stole the show with his DJ performance.
Both Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo attended the New York City Marathon to cheer their wives Samantha Bracksieck and Emily Vakos, who were participating in the event. While all focus on the Yankees superstar slugger, first baseman Anthony Rizzo took center stage at the celebration. In a video shared on social media by DJ Dante Deiana, he was captured seizing control of Dante’s DJ equipment. This impromptu performance unfolded at a rooftop soiree in New York City’s Upper East Side neighborhood following the marathon.
The three-time MLB All-Star electrified the crowd, enthusiastically moving to the beat of “Where Are You” by John Summit and Hayla as he manned the DJ setup.
Anthony Rizzo is a fan favorite in the Bronx
Having spent a decade with the Cubs since his acquisition from the Padres in 2012, Anthony Rizzo’s connection to the team runs deep. The festivities continued for hours, with the first baseman and his companions joyfully dancing to Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”
On that same day, Anthony Rizzo had a heartwarming meeting with his wife at the marathon’s finish line, where she completed her first-ever marathon. Emily ran the marathon in support of the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, an organization established by the Yankees firstbaseman in 2012 to provide assistance to pediatric cancer patients and their families.
After the race, the couple shared a beaming embrace, their smiles radiating with happiness.
Friends forever
Anthony Rizzo and Emily were joined by his Yankees teammate, Aaron Judge, and Judge’s wife, Samantha Bracksieck, both of whom also participated in the NYC Marathon. It was Samantha’s second marathon, having previously run the 2022 race.
The two couples posed for photos together, with Emily and Samantha engaged in conversation as they enjoyed the moment. Emily revealed in an exclusive interview with The Post that she had sought advice from Bracksieck before the race, and the Yankees’ wives had trained together in preparation for the marathon.
Emily mentioned that she had been seeking advice and guidance from her friend throughout the entire process. She expressed that she had asked numerous questions about the day’s schedule, what attire to wear, which headphones to use, and details about her friend’s training regimen. Additionally, they had run together, and Emily appreciated her friend’s support and valuable advice based on her own experiences.
In the same interview with The Post, Anthony Rizzo expressed his admiration for his wife, praising Emily for her remarkable strength and unwavering commitment to her marathon training. Their love story began during his time with the Chicago Cubs, where Emily worked as a real estate broker in the city. Both exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony in Florida in December 2018, a special moment that followed his romantic proposal in June 2017, less than two years prior.
In a Twitter post at the time, he expressed his feelings, calling himself the luckiest guy in the world. He also mentioned that she had accepted his proposal, making them the future Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Rizzo. The post was accompanied by a photo of the couple.

I understand the loyalty to his prior service to the Yankee organization. However, wouldn’t the team be better off with a guy like Eric Chavez, who has been a hitting coach as well as a successful major league hitter/player? I guess the Yankees believe in the saying, thosr who can, do, those thst can’t, teach.
