The Yankees have been struggling to find suitable players amid the phantom injuries that have been sparking concerns. However, it’s not all bad news, as Gleyber Torres, who exited Friday’s game early, is set to return tonight for the series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays, providing a much-needed boost for the team.
Meanwhile, slugger Giancarlo Stanton remains sidelined after being placed on the injured list following the Yankees’ 7-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on June 22.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that he doesn’t expect Giancarlo Stanton to be back right after the All-Star break, though he might be “getting ready to play” at that time. According to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Boone is uncertain whether this preparation will involve a rehab assignment for Stanton.
Other injuries
In addition to Giancarlo Stanton, there’s uncertainty around Jasson Dominguez‘s return. Boone hasn’t provided a timeline for the Yankees prospect, who has been out of the MLB since last year.
The Yankees are also missing first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who has been sidelined since June 16 with a broken forearm.
