H.aving previously served two stints with the team in 2021 and 2023, Allen returns to bolster the Yankees’ depth chart. His familiarity with the organization positions him as a potential asset, particularly when injuries may plague the roster during the 2024 season. With a skill set conducive to pinch-running and defensive substitutions, Allen could offer strategic advantages.

The Yankees have undergone significant outfield restructuring during the offseason, notably acquiring Juan Soto, Trent Grisham, and Alex Verdugo. Soto’s arrival is a pivotal addition, slated primarily for proper field duties due to his offensive prowess. Grisham, acquired in a trade with the Padres, brings elite defensive capabilities to center field, likely earning rotational starts. Meanwhile, Verdugo, secured from the Boston Red Sox, assumes the role of starting left fielder, solidifying the outfield ensemble.

Following a lackluster 2023 campaign culminating in an 82-80 record, the Yankees have sought to fortify their outfield corps. Allen’s addition augments their depth chart as they gear up for spring training, signaling a proactive approach to address shortcomings and enhance team dynamics.
