In a spectacular Friday night showdown, Aaron Judge electrified Yankees fans by smashing his 40th home run of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays.

This impressive feat not only places Aaron Judge at the forefront of the Major Leagues but also crowns him as the first MLB player to achieve 100 RBIs this season. The milestone data, reported by Bryan Hoch of MLB, underscores Judge’s extraordinary performance and solidifies his standing as a key player in the league.

How it happened

Aaron Judge’s 40 home runs place him among the pantheon of Yankees legends, joining the ranks of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle as one of the few to hit 40 or more home runs in at least three seasons.

The historic home run, a two-run blast, occurred in the first inning against Toronto’s right-hander Kevin Gausman. The ball traveled 477 feet into the left-field stands, marking the third-longest home run of Judge’s career. This impressive shot follows his 496-foot homer against Toronto on September 30, 2017, and a 495-foot home run on June 11, 2017, against Baltimore.

Judge’s incredible drive, the longest home run by a Yankee this year, left the bat at an astonishing 117.5 mph. It is also the second-longest home run in the Major League this season, surpassed only by Jorge Soler’s 478-foot blast on July 21 at Coors Field.

This latest feat adds another chapter to Judge’s already illustrious career. His 2022 AL MVP campaign saw him break Roger Maris’s single-season American League home run record with 62 homers. In 2017, Judge hit 52 home runs, earning the AL Rookie of the Year title unanimously and finishing second in the MVP voting.

Friday’s blast marked Judge’s sixth career home run against Gausman, the most he has hit against any pitcher and the most Gausman has allowed to any hitter. Additionally, Judge’s 37 home runs against the Blue Jays are the most by any Yankee against Toronto in franchise history, trailing only his 42 homers against the Orioles.

Joining the elite company of Ruth, Gehrig, and Mantle, Aaron Judge continues to showcase his immense power and crucial role in the Yankees lineup. His performance not only highlights his current impact but also solidifies his place in baseball history. Yankees fans can eagerly anticipate more historic moments from their star as the season progresses, with Judge steadily building his legacy as one of the greatest hitters in the history of the sport.

As the Yankees continue their pursuit of postseason glory, Aaron Judge’s leadership and power will be pivotal. His ability to deliver in clutch moments and his consistency at the plate make him an invaluable asset to the team. Each game brings the potential for more record-breaking achievements, further cementing Judge’s status as a Yankee legend.

With every swing, Aaron Judge not only entertains the fans but also inspires the next generation of baseball players. His dedication, work ethic, and talent are a testament to what it takes to succeed at the highest level. As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on Aaron Judge, watching as he continues to etch his name into the annals of Yankees history.
